How many 5-star reviews do I need?
Take the rating you want. Subtract your rating now. Multiply by your number of reviews. Then divide by 5 minus the rating you want, and round up. That's how many new 5-star reviews you need, if every new review is 5 stars. Real reviews come in mixed, so treat it as the least you need.
The formula
New 5-star reviews needed = current review count × (target − current rating) ÷ (5 − target), rounded up.
- Google shows one decimal place. So the rating you see may tick over slightly sooner than the formula says. The formula tells you when your true average reaches the target.
- It assumes a simple average of all your stars. Use it as a guide, not a promise.
Example: from 4.2 stars (50 reviews) to 4.5
50 × (4.5 − 4.2) = 15. Then 5 − 4.5 = 0.5. And 15 ÷ 0.5 = 30 new 5-star reviews. Check: 210 stars today plus 150 new is 360 stars from 80 reviews, and 360 ÷ 80 = 4.5.
Example: from 4.6 stars (30 reviews) to 4.8
30 × (4.8 − 4.6) = 6. Then 5 − 4.8 = 0.2. And 6 ÷ 0.2 = 30 new 5-star reviews. The same 30 reviews moved the first shop up 0.3 stars, but this one only 0.2. Near the top, each step costs more.
Example: how many 5-star reviews cancel one 1-star? (4.2 stars, 40 reviews)
The 1-star sits 3.2 stars below the 4.2 average (4.2 − 1). Each 5-star sits 0.8 above it (5 − 4.2). So it takes 3.2 ÷ 0.8 = 4 five-star reviews to balance one 1-star. Your review count doesn't change this answer. Only your rating does.
Questions
Why do Google reviews matter for my shop?
When people search for a shop like yours, Google shows each shop's stars and number of reviews. Google also says more reviews and good ratings can help your shop show up higher in local search.
Which shops are in my list?
Up to 5 shops within about 2 km in the same Google category as yours, such as “Nail salon”. The category comes from your Google listing. This check counts reviews only. It can't see when they were left.
How does a free review page help me get more reviews?
Customers scan the QR code at your counter with their phone camera. They leave a review on your page, with photos or a short video. Then, for any star rating, your page helps them post it on Google too.
Is it free, and do you save anything?
It's free and there's no signup. Results come live from Google each time, and we don't save your search or your results. There's a limit of about 30 checks a day across the whole site.
How many 5-star reviews does it take to cancel a 1-star?
It depends on your rating now. At 4.2 stars, it takes 4 five-star reviews to undo one 1-star. At 4.5 stars, it takes 7. At 4.8 stars, it takes 19. The rule is: (your rating − 1) ÷ (5 − your rating), rounded up. The higher your rating, the more each low review costs.
Is 4.8 a good Google rating?
On a 5-star scale, 4.8 is close to the top. The more useful question is how you compare with shops near you, because Google Maps shows nearby shops side by side. Your review count matters too: 4.8 from 10 reviews is not the same as 4.8 from 200. This free check shows both.
Can I delete bad Google reviews?
Not just because they're bad. You can report a review that breaks Google's rules, such as spam or offensive language, and Google removes it if it breaks policy. Google also says not to report a review just because you disagree with it. You can always reply instead.
